Only a few days ago, Việt Nam received good news from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Hạ Long Bay and Cát Bà Archipelagos have been designated as World Natural Heritage sites. With this announcement by UNESCO on September 19, 2023, the number of World Natural Heritage sites in Việt Nam has risen to 23.We seize this occasion to draw public attention towards safeguarding other forests listed in Việt Nam’s roster of Natural Protected Reserves. Many of these forests are under threat of destruction or are earmarked to be replaced by man-made infrastructures. It's important to remember that these forests have been designated as special-use forests and are recognised as Natural Heritage sites under Việt Nam’s Environment Protection Law 2020.
